Purpose of AB 1725

California AB 1725 is designed to mitigate the risks of methane gas migration for residents living near oil and gas wells. By mandating transparency and active monitoring, the law aims to protect households from explosive hazards and health risks.

Mandatory 300-Foot Disclosures

For any residential property located within 300 feet of an active, idle, or abandoned oil or gas well, owners must provide a formal written statement to buyers and tenants regarding proximity to wells and safety procedures.
